学びの場に溢れる知恵

大正大学8号館は、「知と集いの渓谷」という設計コンセプトによって変化に富んだ空間構成で成り立ち、学生が自由に居場所を選べる学びの場として誕生した。
図書館を中心とした機能を備えた新しいシンボルとして、外装やインテリアは伝統文様から着想を得た七宝パネルに包まれ、建築空間における象徴的な要素となっている。
サインシステムにおいても「学びの場に溢れる知恵」というテーマで七宝紋様を取り込み、繋がりや連続を感じるパターングラフィックや、光の輪を表現したプロジェクションなどに展開することで、建築空間と響き合うコードを構築している。

Wisdom Encompassing the Place of Learning

Taisho University Building 8 was designed around the concept of a “Valley of Knowledge and Gathering,” creating a diverse spatial composition where students can freely choose their own place to learn and spend time.
As a new symbol of the campus centered around its library functions, the building’s exterior and interior are enveloped in shippo-patterned panels inspired by traditional Japanese motifs, becoming a distinctive symbolic element of the architectural space.
The signage system was also developed around the theme of “Wisdom Encompassing the Place of Learning,” incorporating the shippo pattern as a key design motif.
The pattern was translated into a graphic language of interconnected and continuous forms, as well as projections expressing rings of light. Through these elements, a visual code that resonates with and extends the architectural concept was created throughout the space.
