The campus, extending from north to south, is envisioned as a forest of trees, with graphics inspired by the light and shadows cast upon them unfolding throughout the space. True to the name “Hinode Campus,” the site enjoys abundant sunlight, with the sun gradually shifting across the sky throughout the day, continuously changing the length and width of the shadows.
By visualizing this ever-changing interplay of light and shadow, the design creates a campus environment with the atmosphere of a forest.
The graphic patterns applied to the glass surfaces serve not only to enhance the spatial experience, but also as soft visual filters. They gently mediate sightlines between students in the classrooms and those walking through the corridors, helping students remain focused on their classes while maintaining a sense of openness.
The color scheme also functions as a wayfinding element within the campus. To help visitors easily understand their position and locate their destination within the expansive, symmetrical campus, the wall colors vary according to the east and west cores and each floor, providing intuitive visual cues for navigating the space.
