Akasaka Green Cross

reflection projection

reflection projection

Akasaka Green Cross is a high-rise intelligent office building directly connected to Tameike-Sannō Station, one of Tokyo’s major transportation hubs.
The project was developed around the concept of "reflecting" the memory of the site, which was once known as Tameike—a landscape rich in water and greenery. To visually bring the lush landscape and extensive green walls planned for the exterior into the interior, tree patterns were directly printed onto aluminum wall panels throughout the building. The signage was designed to create a gentle visual continuity between the outdoor environment and the interior spaces.
The freestanding signs feature digitally rendered tree patterns laminated within insulated glass together with a half-mirror film. By balancing reflection and transparency, the design expresses a visual sense of the passage of time between the physical and virtual worlds, allowing the signage to blend naturally into the greenery of the surrounding urban environment.
As the basement levels are directly connected to the subway station, the project also sought to seamlessly integrate the subway wayfinding system into the architectural space, ensuring both visual harmony and functional clarity.

By incorporating a tree pattern and a semi-mirror film between the layers of insulated glass, the design achieves both reflection and transparency, allowing it to blend seamlessly into the lush, green urban landscape.
